                                                                     THE NATIONALS CREW

3/14 - Nike Indoor Nationals - Armory
After Friday night's fireworks, the team head to Boston for the Nike Indoor Nationals.  The 4x800 relay had spent most of the
indoor season ranked in the top 5 and had aspirations of pulling of an upset.  That goal would be challenged as the race got pretty
physical with runners falling and much elbowing and jostling for position.  Alex Civitano handed off with a steady 2:00.5 carry to
put the Vikings in the chase pack.  Nick Italiano, making his return from a hamstring injury, set his focus on the early leaders.  On
his second (of 4) laps, he had to leap over a runner who tripped and fell.  When he began his kick he was shoved by a runner
coming off the turn.  Despite the rough TRIP, he was able to clock 1:59.4.  Adam Civitano ran a solid 1:58.9 and Dan Zaccariello
stopped the clock at 7:52.65 FAT for 4th place and All-American honors.  A solid performance that should leave the Vikings
hungry for an even better outdoor season.  WATCH THE RACE HERE!!

3/13 - National Scholastics - Armory
The SMR kicks off the nationals weekend in fine fashion as we tie St. Anthony's in the seeded section - 3:30.76 - 3:30.76.  The
officials needed to go down to the thousandths place to separate Dan Zaccariello and St. A's anchor Payton Hazzard.  Chris
Murphy
led off with a PR of 23.5 and handed off in the back of the chase pack.  George Setteducato was able to maintain focus
despite being spiked and having his show nearly fall off.  Adam Civitano ran a big PR in the 400 of 50.4 to keep the team close for
Zaccariello.  Danny showed tremendous poise while going out smoothly in 53.4.  On his third lap he started to close the gap while going
through the 600 in 1:22.9.  He took the lead going into the final lap and put in a valiant effort to avoid a late charging Hazzard at the line.
The SMR's performance is tied for the second fastest in CHSAA History!  It also shattered the island record of 3:32.84 set by
St. Peter's in 2005.
