St Joseph by-the-Sea Track & Field  

5/3 - Varsity Staten Island Champs - Farrell H.S.
It was a grueling day for competition under gloomy skies and constant rains at Farrell.  All was not lost as St. Joe's crowns 3
Island Champions in Sean O'Shaughnessy (400 IH), Joe Tufano (LJ) and Daniel Zaccariello (1600).  The Viking jumpers are
dominant while scoring 30 pts in both horizontal jumps.  The all-soph 4x100 relay takes third as does the 4x400 relay.  Mike Baio,
on the Penn rebound, steps up for the team in the 800.  Alex Civitano courageously leads off the 4x800 and hands off in first place. 
Zaccariello runs a blistering double - (4:24.0 - 1:56.4 split)  O and by the way, the 4:24.0 (#5 NYS) is a new 1600 meter school
record which takes down Anthony Canova's 1997 standard.  The Vikings sit in 2nd place with the HJ and PV to be completed on
Wed.
