5/10
- CHSAA Frosh/Soph Intersectionals - Farrell H.S.
The sophs step up and avenge the disappointment from the sectionals for a
fine 3rd place team finish. It was a tight team competition as 5 teams were
separated by 3.5 pts. Rob Ruspantini (400IH) got the day started off with a 2nd
place finish. Nick Velez would add a silver medal in the 800 missing the win by
.03 hundredths of a second. The Soph 4x100 make the necessary adjustments from
the trials to the finals and win the "City Championship." Robbie Guidicipietro
breaks out in the 3200 and lowers his school record by 16 seconds for a time of
10:13.16 FAT - 4th place. The Soph 4x800 took 3rd place and added 3 big points
to the team. In the field, James Mahoney (HJ - 5th), Mike DiBiase (PV - 3rd)
earned bronze medals. Joe Somma took 2nd in the Soph LJ.
The frosh had a nice day as well scoring 18 pts in the always
competitive CHSAA Intersectionals beating a few of the teams that beat them
earlier in the week. Kyle Sinclair has a HUGE day by winning TWO "City
Championships" in the hurdle events. He started the day by winning the 400 IH in
64.77 FAT then raced the 110 HH trials and finals nipping out two athletes at
the line. His time - 17.50 FAT - breaks a three way tie for the school record.
The Frosh 4x100 Relay of Joe Arnone, Jeremy Cassamassino, Lorenzo Francisco &
Joe Cottone are the 3rd fastest team in NYC! Cottone would add a 3rd place
finish in the Frosh HJ.
All and all, this was a fantastic day for the Vikings - The Future is Bright! |
