The Fastest 4x800 EVER Run in Sea History!

6/19-6/20 - Nike Outdoor National Champs - North Carolina
The guys ran competitive races in the humidity that saw the temperatures sail into the high 90's.  The 4x800 relay
drops four seconds off the outdoor school record and settles for a seasonal best of 7:52.49 FAT, which was good
enough for 11th place.  The next morning the DMR just missed dropping the school record on the heels of a solid
double by Nick Italiano.  A VERY enjoyable and productive trip to be with the "best of the best."

respectively.

1/30 - 102nd Millrose Games - Madison Square Garden
Close to 150 of the Viking faithful make it to the garden including numerous alumni.  A medical issue put us out
of it on the lead-off leg and the team found the going tough to get back into the race.  A valiant effort which in no
way dampens the tremendous effort and honor that it was to get to the garden.

1/25 - NYCHSAA Sectionals - Armory
The momentum continues to build as St. Joe's puts together a competitive day on all levels.  Junior Dan Zaccariello
wins a "Sectional Championship" in the 1,000 while going wire-to-wire.  He added a third place medal in the 1,600
with a fine 4:30.  Nick Italiano has a nice day as well going fourth in a very gutsy 800 and surprising the field in the 400
to take second place.  The varsity cracks the top 5 for the first time since 2006.
The freshmen have a fine day as well with a solid third place finish earning a team plaque.  The team was led by
"Sectional Champions" Christian Falcone (800) and Frank Sconzo (55 HH)  The 4x400 relay of Vogt, Fiechter,
Franco & Falcone run very well to win the seeded heat only to be bumped out by the second heat.
The Viking weightmen fare well as they capture the team title over Iona Prep (70-43)  The team crowned six
"Sectional Champions":  George Setteducato (JM 200), Vito Coladonato (JM 800), Mike Carballiera (JM HJ)
and the SM 4x200, Midget 4x200 and JM 4x200 relays.

1/19 - MLK Relays

The small crew that compete get their money's worth!  Anthony Cerciello
vaults into school history with Sea's first 13 foot vault.  He teams with Mario Fontana to take first place in the varsity pole vault relay.  The frosh team ties for first place

PV Record Holder - Anthony Cerciello

1/18 - Staten Island Champs - Armory
A spirited effort as the team cops second place.  Buoyed by Island Champions Sean O'Shaughnessy (55 HH) and Joe Tufano (TJ), the team pulls away form the pack in the second half of the meet.  Tufano's efforts, combined with his 2nd place finish in the LJ, earned him the meet's "Outstanding Field Performer" award.  Nick Italiano runs a sizzling 1:23.8 in the 600 and Daniel Zaccariello runs 4:27 in the 1600, both earning silver medals.  The relays were tremendous today with the 4x800 (2nd), 4x400 (4th) and the 4x200 (3rd) scoring well as many underclassmen step up.

Indoor Track & Field 2008-2009 - S.I. Champs - 2nd Place

 BACK TO THE GARDEN!

1/14 - Millrose Trials - Armory
In what might've been the fastest Millrose Trials EVER, St. Joe's qualifies for the prestigious Millrose Games to be
held at Madison Square Garden on Jan 30th.  Sea took fourth at tonight's trials just missing third place at the wire.
It took a sizzling 8:03 for the sixth place team to make the games this year.  Some real solid 800 times are posted
in the other races as well including a nice run by the frosh 4x800.

1/10 - Hispanic Games - Armory
Sean O'Shaughnessy (2:02.4), Nick Italiano (1:59.0), Mike Baio (2:01.6) and Daniel Zaccariello (1:56.7) put in a
huge effort to stampede into the Millrose Trials Seeded Section with a 7:59.73 FAT clocking.  The time snaps a

A day of near-misses with regard to medals.  The Frosh/Soph 4x400 just misses medals with a 7th place finish on a big anchor league by Vin Aceto.  In addition, the LJ Relay comes close and Joe Tufano places 7th in the triple jump, two inches short of a medal.
