7/20 - 4th Annual Daniel Kelley Twilight Mile - St. Joseph Sea
Despite the heat and humidity, over 250 runners competed in the 4th Annual DK Twilight Mile. In the men's race, Sea alum Daniel Zaccariello of Wagner College defended his title in an exciting finish. He and Alex LoPresti, a Univ of Alabama freshmen, battled down the final straightaway neck and neck until the finish line. In the elite women's race, Christina Melian, formerly of Wagner H.S. demolished the meet record and is the first female to go under 5:00 mins. Melian, a SUNY StonyBrook freshmen and USATF Junior National Champion ran even splits for a 4:58.79 FAT.

2013 Daniel Kelley Twilight Mile - Viking Alumni Challenge

6/19 - Viking Classic - 7th Edition - St. Joseph Sea H.S.
Nineteen athletes answer the call to see who is Sea's "Best Overall Athlete!" The athletes competed in the 100 dash, shot put, high jump, long jump and 1600 meters. In the end Senior Phil Blanda dominated the competition. Joe DiSchiavi (Junior), Jordan Daniels (Soph) & Joe Somma (Frosh) would beat the rest of their class. All in all, it was a fun day to officially end the track & field year!

6/8 - NY State Federation Champs - Middletown H.S.
CHSAA Champ Phil Blanda just misses the finals by 4 inches. He would finish in 12th place with a leap of 21'-6.75"

5/31 - CHSAA Pentathlon Champs - Icahn Stadium
Alex Gargiso is in the lead for most of the competition before settling for a second place medal. He set PR's in the 110 HH (15.5), high jump (5'-10), shot put (32'-2) and long jump (17'-7).

5/28 - Fast Times Relays - Warwick H.S.
The season ends with some nice performances. The varsity 4x800 relay runs a seasonal best with a time of 8:17.67 FAT. Nick D'Addesa (2:02.9) and Luigi Tirro (2:01.9) set the relay up for success. Their 8:17 is a 14 second seasonal best. The frosh 4x800 gets some valuable experience and crushes the freshmen school record. Nick Velez (2:10.6), Rob Ruspantini (2:15.4), Rob Guidicipietro (2:16.9) and Mateo Velez (2:18.7) all run personal bests. The foursome runs 9:01.97 FAT which is 12 seconds faster than the previous school record from 2006. Junior Ray Cardella breaks 55 seconds in the 400. All in all, it was a nice send-off for our seniors!

5/27 - Eastern State Champs - Iona Prep H.S.
A few select athletes head up to their second meet in as many days for some nice results. The frosh 4x200 relay of Joe Somma, Garth Ikomi, Daniel Pucciarelli & Kyle Rivera snap an 8 year school record while earning 5th place medals. The frosh 4x1600 relay of Nick Velez, Rob Guidicipietro, Rob Ruspantini & Mike Cardona establish a new frosh record. The four freshmen earned 2nd place medals. Phil Blanda wins an "Eastern States Championship" in both the long jump & 200 meter dash. Alex Gargiso (61.6) and Jack Logan (16.42) both end their hurdle careers with medals in their specialties.

5/26 - CHSAA Catholic State Champs - Icahn Stadium
Capt Phil Blanda wins the "Catholic State Title" in the long jump with a personal best of 22'-2.75" He has qualified for the NYS Federation Champs. The frosh 4x100 of Joe Somma, Garth Ikomi, Daniel Pucciarelli & Kyle Rivera break the school record with a 48.33 FAT. Ray Cardella & Joe Rauchet set 200 PR's by going sub 25.  Alex Rosenbauer & Joe DiSchiavi show the mid-distance group that sprinters can run the 800 too! Freshmen Nick Velez leads the milers with a 4:55.9. Soph Tom Geoghegan pops a 36'-8" triple jump - definitely a positive sign for the future! Freshmen Michael DiBiase clears 10'-0 in the pole vault - the 2nd best frosh vault in school history!

5/21 - Frosh Island Champs - St. Joseph Sea

The freshmen step up with a decisive victory for our school's third island championship title. This adds to our 2005 & 2008 crowns. Garth Ikoma (100), Nick Pascolino (Discus), Rob Ruspantini (110 HH) and Mateo Velez (TJ) are all crowned Staten Island Champions! Silver medalists include: Ruspantini (400 IH), Nick Velez (1600), Joe Somma (LJ) and Michael DiBiase (PV). The team was balanced with points in the sprints, distance, jumping, throwing & hurdling events. The team scores 151 pts - 75 pts on the track and 76 pts in the field events - some incredible balance! Congratulations on a job well done - "The climb to the top starts now!"

5/18 - NYCHSAA Sectionals - Icahn Stadium
Phil Blanda wins the outdoor sectional title in the long jump to go alongside his indoor victory. He added a 2nd place finish in the 100 meter dash. Soph Brandon Prato finishes 3rd in the discus with a new PR - 122'-2" and adds a 5th place in the shot. In the non-scoring PV, Michael DiBiase sets a PR by vaulting 9'-0".  The 4x400 and 4x800 relays run competitive races. D'Addesa 52 pt! DiSchiavi 2:14!
    Earlier in the day, our weight team wins the NYCHSAA Junior Weight Championship! This is the 4th weight championship for the team - 2006, 2007, 2010 & 2013! Sectional Champions include: Ray Cardella - Midget 100, Luigi Tirro - Junior HJ, Joe Somma - Junior LJ, Michael Italiano - Midget LJ as well as the Sub-Midget 4x100 & Midget 4x100 relays.

5/11 - Frosh/Soph Intersectionals - Icahn Stadium
The frosh 4x100 relay just misses a school record en route to a 3rd place finish. Joe Somma, Garth Ikomi, Dan Pucciarelli & Kyle Rivera handled the baton. Soph Brandon Prato uncorks a personal best of 120'-9 for 3rd place in the discus. The frosh 4x400 relay of Dan Pucciarelli, Vin Spinelli, Kyle Rivera & Dylan Hausler garner 5th place medals. Soph Vin Claro places 4th in the steeple. Spinelli & Pollio sub 60!

5/7 - Frosh/Soph Sectionals - Farrell H.S.
The frosh 4x200 runs a seasonal best as all 4 guys PR. Dan Pucciarelli, Garth Ikomi, Kyle Rivera & Dylan Hausler earn 3rd place medals. Ikomi splits 24.4 and places 2nd in the frosh 100. Robbie G runs a PR in the 1600 with a 5:10. Brandon Prato throws another PR in the shot and finishes in 2nd in the discus.

5/4 - Varsity Staten Island Champs - St. Joseph Sea
The two-day meet kicks off on Thurs with Alex Gargiso claiming his first S.I. championship in the 400 IH. Jack Logan and Luigi Tirro finish in 3rd and 5th.
On Day 2, the hurdling duo of Alex Gargiso and Jack Logan place 2nd and 4th with huge personal bests in the 110 HH. The Varsity "A" and "B" 4x100 relays both make the finals. The "B" team almost shocks the competition with a huge leg by Joe Rauchet. Phil Blanda has a big day in the long jump with a 1 foot improvement by leaping 21'-11. He would get nipped by an inch in the finals and he'd settle for 2nd place. Freshmen Joe Somma inches closer to the frosh LJ record with a 6th place - 18'-9.75" jump. Soph Brandon Prato wins his first S.I. Championship in the discus and takes 2nd in the shot while scoring 18 points for the team! Frosh Michael DiBiase sets a PR in the PV and earned a 5th place medal in the varsity pole vault. Freshmen Mateo Velez set a 2 foot PR in the TJ to make the finals.

4/27 - 119th Penn Relays - Franklin Field, University of Penn.
The 4x400 runs a seasonal best en route to 2nd place medals! Phil Blanda (52.5), Alex Rosenbauer 52.7, Mike Ceciliani (53.8) and Nick D'Addesa (55.2) earn prestigous medals from the Penn Relays for placing in the top 3 in their heat! On Friday, Blanda & Rosenbauer teamed up with Alex Gargiso & Frank DeLeo to run a seasonal best in the 4x100.

4/27 - Gold Rush - Clarkstown South H.S.
Senior Jack Logan "demolishes" the school record in the Varsity 200 IH. The record was held by Frank Stabile '07, Jack's hurdle coach! Nick Velez becomes the 1st freshmen to go "sub 5!" The frosh/soph DMR runs well with Guidicipietro 2:20 & Mike Italiano 57.1 setting PR's.

4/21 - BIG BLUE TRACK & FIELD CLASSIC - St. Joseph Sea H.S.
Over 55 teams venture out to Sea for a jam packed day of track & field action. The team does a phenomenal job in doing the little things to ensure a very successful home track meet. We also were hosts for Westerhall Secondary School from St. David's, Grenada. This was the 3rd time in Big Blue history we hosted an international team. 
  We have plenty of great performances throughout the meet as a very strong wind wrecked havoc on any designs of some fast times. The frosh SMR of Rob Ruspantini, Joe Somma, Garth Ikoma & Nick Velez earn 5th place medals. They would also take 3rd in the frosh 4x200. Alex Gargiso won the 400 IH in an exciting finish down the last straightaway. He would later team with Jack Logan & Tom Geoghegan to earn 3rd place medals in the SHR. A big kick by Frank DeLeo locks down 4th place in the Varsity 4x800. Brandon Prato (Soph Shot) and Phil Blanda (Var LJ) earned 3rd place medals. Freshmen Michael DiBiase earned a 3rd place medals in the freshmen pole vault.
     I just want to thank the many, MANY parents, alumni & volunteers that helped make this year's Big Blue such a success. It could've been by making a donation or by spending some time at the meet; but either way your efforts are much appreciated.

4/13 - Knight Time Invitational - Uniondale H.S.
The team preps for Big Blue by taking a trip out to Long Island.

4/6 - Farrell Invitational - Farrell H.S.
A total of 38 medals are won in our first meet on Staten Island this season. The meet kicked off with 1st place gold medals for the shuttle hurdle relay of Jack Logan, Alex Gargiso &Tom Geoghegan. The freshmen 4x200 relay with Joe Somma, Nick Velez, Dan Pucciarelli & Garth Ikoma run their fastest time of the year (1:44.0) and earned second place medals. The meet ended with an exciting frosh 4x4 that came down to the very end with Kyle Rivera holding off a Curtis runner at the line. It was the freshmen's first time SUB 4:00 mins! A total of 42 PR's were set on the day.

4/3 - CHSAA Relay Carnival - Icahn Stadium
The team battles 35 degree weather and 25 mph gusty winds at Icahn Stadium. The frosh 4x400 of Nick Velez, Dan Pucciarelli, Kyle Rivera & Dylan Hausler win gold medals. Vin Claro earns a 2nd place medal in the varsity 3,000 steeplechase. The team medals in all of the weight relays: 3rd Place - Sub-Midget 4x2, 1st Place - Midget 4x2 & 3rd Place - Junior-Midget 4x2. The midget relay of Tom Geoghegan, Ray Cardella, Mike Italiano and Vin Claro break the meet record by 2 seconds. A total of 27 medals were won on the day.
 

CHSAA Relay Carnival - 1st Place - 4x400 Relay

4/1 - Iona Invitational - Iona Prep H.S.
The 2013 outdoor season kicks off with a solid season opener at Iona Prep. A total of 33 medals earned & 38 PR's were set under nice conditions. Alex Gargiso ties for the win in the varsity high jump as soph Jordan Daniels takes 2nd in his first time jumping - 5'-0". Freshmen Nick Velez drops a big kick to win the freshmen 800 in 2:16. Alex Rosenbauer runs two open PR's in 53.1 and 23.9. Jack Logan breaks 17 secs in the 110 HH and Ray Cardella goes sub 25.

3/22 - 6th Edition of the Blue & Gray Invitational - St. Joseph Sea H.S.

In 38 degrees & windy conditions, Coach Frank DeLeo's blue squad wins over Blanda's gray squad - 132 pts to 113 pts. The blue team nails the victory down, similar to last year, with a 33-6 domination in the three throwing events. Deleo's first coaching win was a balanced attack as they scored 66 pts in both the track and field events. Three event winners included: Alex Rosenbauer (400, TJ & 4x4) and Phil Blanda (LJ, 100 & 200). All in all it was a very fun atmosphere as St. Joe's kicks off the outdoor season in a few days. Following the intra-squad meet, athletes enjoyed themselves with b-ball and pizza in the gym. Thanks to the Class of 2012 for helping out throughout the day.
Note: A school record of sorts was set as the team flew through 20 pies of pizza in 20 minutes. This was done on the strength of soph Brandon Prato!

2/17 - CHSAA Catholic State Champs - St. Anthony's H.S.
Originally scheduled for the Armory on 2/9, the last meet of the season takes place at St. Anthony's in Long Island. Capt Phil Blanda, after not practicing for two weeks due to a pulled hamstring, valiantly competes in the LJ and finishes in 3rd place. The frosh 4x400 relay runs a seasonal best of 4:02.01 FAT, a solid time considering they ran it on the flat track at St. A's. Nick Velez (59.6) and Rob Ruspantini (59.9) break 60 secs.

2/3 - Frosh/Soph Intersectionals - Armory
Joe Somma earns a silver medal in the freshmen city championship long jump. The frosh 4x200 relay earn bronze medals with a 5th place finish. They double up in the 4x400 and run a tough race all by themselves in a season best, 4:05.80 FAT. Soph Tom Geoghegan breaks 60 in the 400. Nick Camporeale (2:18) and Joe DiSchiavi (2:19) show that the sprinters can run the 800 too! Joe Rizzo sets a PR in the PV, 9-6"

1/27 - NYCHSAA Sectionals - Armory

Capt. Phil Blanda wins his first "Sectional Championship" in the long jump with a 20'-7.5" leap. He added a 3rd place medal in the 55 meter dash. Sam Mondello sets a big PR in the 800 - 2:01.29 FAT en route to a 5th place finish. Nick D'Addesa (2:04.9) and Frank DeLeo (2:07.9) set personal bests as well. Alex Gargiso (5th) and Jack Logan (6th) make the 55 HH finals. The 4x200 relay of Alex Gargiso, Alex Rosenbauer, Craig Benigno and Joe DiSchiavi pull off a surprise and qualify for the finals taking 5th place.
     Frosh Mike Fidanza wins a sectional title with a dramatic dive in the 400 meter dash. The frosh 4x200 relay of Joe Somma, Daniel Pucciarelli, Nick Velez and Kyle Rivera garner 2nd place medals. Mike Cardona crops almost 10 seconds in the 1600 with a PR of 5:29.2. The frosh 4x400 runs a gritty race en route to a 3rd place performance.
     In the weight meet, Ray Cardella (Midget 55) and the midget 4x200 relay of Cardella, Mike Proscia, Nick Pollio, and Tom Geoghegan earn gold medals.

1/19 - Staten Island Champs - Armory
Some nice efforts across the board but we let a few chances get away from those resulted in a 4th place finish. Phil Blanda pulls off an upset and win the "Island Championship" in the 55 meter dash. Alex Rosenbauer sets 2 PR's in the 300 trials & finals. Joe Giuliano & Brandon Prato earn 3rd & 4th place medals in the shot put. The sprinters send two 4x200 relays to the finals - 2nd & 5th place. The 4x800 relay runs very competitively and only surrenders the lead on the anchor leg. Frosh Joe Somma jumps 16-4" en route to a 2 foot PR and gains a 6th place medal. In the non-scoring frosh 4x200's, the "A" team wins in a huge personal best and the "B" team earns 4th place medals. Videos taken by Davey Esposito

1/12 - Stanner Games - Armory
Phil Blanda duplicates his 20'-10" jump en route to a 5th place performance in the varsity long jump. Frosh Nick Velez, in his first time pole vaulting, vaults 8'-4" and finished in 6th place. Luigi Tirro leads the 4x8 guys all under 1:30.  Nick Camporeale & Joe DiSchiavi record some excellent PR's in the 400's. Alex Gargiso & Jack Logan record PR's in the 55 HH.

1/5 - Hispanic Games - Armory
Phil Blanda sets three PR's in the long jump as he inches toward the illustrious 21 foot mark. His 20'-10" jump earned him an 8th place medal in the ultra-competitive Hispanic Games. Frank DeLeo sets a PR in the 200 - 24.7


1/4 - Soph Sectionals/Hayes Games - Fordham Univ.
Soph Brandon Prato knocks down the 14 year old school record in the shot put. He does so on his 40'-8.5" PR, a mere 1/2 inch better than Ray Tobin threw in 1999. Vin Claro gets 4th in the mile. At the Hayes meet, senior Alex Gargiso sets a PR in his 2nd time high jumping, 5'-6" with 3 some nice attempts at 5'-8". He also ran a personal best in the 55HH - 8.2.

12/30 - CHSAA Novice & Weight Champs - Armory
The weight men take 2nd place in a close battle with Iona Prep. The sub-midget 4x200 and junior 4x200 relays earn gold medals. Nick Camporeale wins the sub-midget 300. Phil Blanda places 2nd in the varsity long jump with a new personal best, 20'-5.5"

12/27 - Marine Corp Holiday Classic - Armory
The Varsity 4x800 drops 7 seconds off its seasonal best with all 4 runners under 2:10. The Frosh 4x400 runs a big season best of 4:09.80 FAT. Mike Fidanza is the first freshmen to drop under 60 seconds in the 400. Joe Somma (10 secs) and Dan Pucciarelli (7 secs) runs big 400's as well. 13/16 frosh 400 runners set personal bests. Phil Blanda drops under 54 in the 400 and Nick Camporeale runs a big 400 to close out the day. Camporeale's big leg helps the sprinters top the MD group in the 4x400's to close the day.

12/22 - Grinch Games - Fordham Univ.
A nice day all around for the underclassmen. The soph 4x400 relay of Vin Claro, Joe Chirelli, Tom Geoghegan & Nick Pollio earn 6th place medals. The junior weight 4x400 relay hold on for gold medals - Ray Cardella, Nick Camporeale, Joe DiSchiavi & Rocco Rago. Earlier in the day, Cardella would lead a Sea 1-2-3 finish in the midget 200. Alex Gargiso runs a nice race in the 55 HH with a 8.4 PR which was good enough for 4th place.

12/15 - Bishop Loughlin Games - Armory
A few varsity athletes head to the Armory for a quality workout as many run 3 events on the day. Phil Blanda leads 6/6 sprinters to some nice 300 PR's.  Alex Gargiso breaks 40 in the 300 and 25 in the 200. Sam Mondello and Luigi Tirro break 1:30 in the 600. The MD group pulls away from the sprinters in the 4x400 "Test of Champions!"

12/15 - Ignatian Developmental Meet - Fordham Univ.
Brandon Prato has a big day in the shot put. Nick Camporeale runs two nice races in the 300 and a leg on the 4x200 relay. Mike Fidanza and Rob Ruspantini run some nice frosh 600's.  Frosh Mike DiBiase almost 3 steps all of the hurdles in the 55 HH.  Kyle Rivera leads all of the frosh in the 300.

12/8 - CHSAA Relay Carnival - Armory
A young (45 frosh/soph) Viking Track & Field squad kicks off the 2012-2013 season. The frosh 4x200 of Joe Somma, Rob Guidicipietro, Daniel Pucciarelli and a big leg by Mike Fidanza earn third place medals. The sub-midget 4x200 relay earn 4th place bronze medals - Rocco Rago, Daniel Rosenbauer, Jamie Bavaro and Michael DiBiase. The all freshmen junior midget 4x800 relay of Rob Guidicipietro, Rob Ruspantini, Mike Cardona and Joe Cardona earn 5th place medals. Soph Miguel Fernadez breaks 25 secs. Rosie breaks 55 secs. Lots of nice times recorded by the frosh/soph athletes.

11/21 - Varsity Island Champs - Clove Lakes Park
Sam Mondello and Elizabeth Oliver lead the varsity teams in the last XC race of the season.

11/19 - JV Islands - Clove Lakes Park
Alfred Alcasid leads the JV to 4th place with a 19:22.  Freshmen Robbie Guidicipietro (3rd man) and Nick Velez (5th man) step up to score for the JV team.  Freshmen Emily Cosgriff leads the JV girls over the 5k course.

11/17 - NY State Federation Champs - Wappingers Falls, NY
Sam Mondello turns in a nice performane up at the States.  His 17:43 time is the 4th fastest for a Viking.  He went into the race as the 9th best CHSAA individual qualifier at the Cities and was the 4th fastest today.

11/13 - Frosh Islands - Clove Lakes Park
Robbie Guidicipietro leads the frosh boys to 2nd place - our best finish in 3 years.  In the "B" race, Joe Cardona nips in front of Mike DiBiase for 1st place.  The team records a perfect score of 15 pts. 
     Cristina Cipriano and Victoria Armenia run big races in the frosh girls race.  The team finishes in 7th place overall.  Both the boys and the girls from drop big time from their Breen 9/8 races.

In the final meet of the season at VCP, Senior Sam Mondello earns his first state bid in the varsity race.  His 13:52 was the 9th fastest individual once the top 5 teams were displaced.  He is Sea's first state qualifier in two years.  Luigi Tirro turns in a personal best of 14:06.  Tyler Franco '12, Ray Mondello '12, John Scanlon '12 & Matt Dudziec '12 venture out to VCP for the alumni race and....survive!
     The girls have a solid VCP finale led by Elizabeth Oliver who turned in a personal best of 18:27.  The back of the varsity pack runs very competitively.

11/10 - Frosh Intersectionals - VCP

Originally scheduled for last Sat, the frosh have their final last shot at the 1/5 at VCP and make the best of it.  Nick Velez (6 secs) and Matteo Velez (8 secs) record personal bests in the "A" race.  The team takes 9th place overall.  Mike DiBiase has a huge race in the "B" race as does Greg Amitrano.  The "B" team finished in 4th place.  Brandon Trefcer leads the "C" group to 5th place in the "C" race standings.
     Emily Cosgriff is the #1 girl again and finishes in 37th place overall.  Cristina Cipriano finishes with a huge sprint and knocks a bunch of time off her best!

10/27 - NYCHSAA Sectionals - VCP
The frosh have a fantastic day as 22/23 leave the day with PR's - many of them big improvements.  For the first time all year 5 freshmen break 10 mins with our #6 and #7 real close.  Robbie Guidicipietro & Mike Fidanza break 9:40. Rob Ruspantini & Mike Cardona run nice races with 42 and 28 second improvements.  In the "B" race, Joe Cardona runs 10:10 in his first time over the course.  Ryan McNamara (1:53) and Brandon Trefcer (1:14) record HUGE PR's.  For the varsity, Daniel Acerra gets things going with a 27 second PR.

10/27 - Girls Sectionals - VCP
The varsity girls fall a bit short in their quest for a 3rd place plaque but will come back with a vengeance at the Cities/Islands.  Elizabeth Oliver inches her way closer to breaking 18 minutes with a PR of 18:29.  The frosh have dynamite races with 3/3 setting a PR and earning a medal.  Juliet Garland has a remarkable improvement of 3:19 - that's 3 mins and 19 seconds!

10/20 - 30th Annual Brown Invitational - Goodard Park, Rhode Island
Sam Mondello finishes as the #2 Viking in school history at the competitive Brown Invitational.  Robbie Guidicipietro runs 15:34 for the Frosh 2.5 mile race.  His time is the second fastest for a freshmen at Brown, 9 seconds off of Frank Recce '06.  Nick Velez just drops under 16 mins.

10/13 - Manhattan College Invitational - VCP
St. Joe's competes well in the nation's largest XC meet.  Over 11,000 athletes completed in 40 separate races.  Sam Mondello smashes his way under 14 mins with a 13:44, good enough for #12 on the All-time list.  Luigi Tirro PR's as well with a 14:14.  For the JV, 4/4 leave the day with a PR.  Mike Fidanza is the #3 on the Frosh 1.2 All-Time list.  The frosh record a tight 5 man spread of 15 seconds.
     Elizabeth Oliver and Chiarra Guida record big PR's with 18:45 & 18:46 respectively.  Kristina Morel, Danielle Woodman and Alyssa Proscia do the same.  Emily Cosgriff & Cristina Cipriano run big races in the Frosh 1.2 race.  Cosgriff's 8:38 is her 2nd frosh school record in 3 weeks!

10/6 - Mayor's Cup Champs - VCP
The frosh boys have a nice day at VCP en route to finishing in 2nd place in the team standings.  Mike Fidanza inches closer to the frosh all-time list as Nick Velez comes close to breaking 10 mins. 
     Elizabeth Oliver & Brianna Sierp pace the varsity and record big improvements  from the Villa meet.

9/29 - Six Flags Wild Safari 5K - Jackson, NJ

Big performances for the varsity & JV.  Sam Mondello lights up the trails in a big race knocking clsoe to 40 seconds off of last years time.  Danny Acerra steps up big on the varsity team to continue his rebound of a season.  The Varsity takes 4th and just misses a plaque.  Alex Buttaro, Alfred Alcasid and Joey Lama all run big races for the JV team.  Mike Fidanza crushes the school record for the frosh 3200 course.
   Chiarra Guida & Elizabeth Oliver pace the varsity girls.  Most girls who race last year set BIG improvements.  Emily Cosgriff paces the frosh. Both Guida and Cosgriff set the school course records for var & frosh.  Following all of the races, our athletes got to spend a few hours on a beautiful afternoon enjoying the rides.

9/22 - Bob Pratt Invitational - Sunken Meadows

The frosh have a fantastic day at SMP led by Mike Fidanza.  His 8:43 is the second fastest for any Sea freshmen over the 1.5 course at Sunken Meadows.  Nick Velez (#4), Robbie Guidicipietro (#5), Mateo Velez (#9) and Nick Pascolino (#10) all make the all-time list as well.  Tom Costagliola runs a big PR to lead the JV team.  Anthony Castagliola has a big race for the JV as well.

9/15 - Regis Invitational - VCP
Sam Mondello opens up in a fine 14:12 as Luigi Tirro dips under 14:30.  Jonathan Goldman (left) runs a fantastic race with a 15:15.  Vin Claro leads the sophs and cracks 15 mins with a fast 14:52 VCP debut.  The varsity 5 man average is 25 seconds faster than it was at last year's Regis meet. Twenty-four freshmen compete with Mike Fidanza cracking 10 mins in his first VCP 1.5 race.

9/15 - Villa Bear Invitational - VCP
Elizabeth Oliver & Chiarra Guida lead the varsity girls as Emily Marsala makes her return after a bout with mono.  Emily Cosgriff runs a great race to earn her 2nd frosh medal in as many races. Cristina Cipriano, Jaclyn Mooney  & Allyson Tucker earn medals in the frosh 1.5 as well.

9/8 - Rob Breen Invitational - Clove Lakes
The 2012 cross country season gets underway as the Varsity, JV & Frosh leave CLP with plaques.  Sam Mondello dips under 18 mins to lead the Varsity to 2nd place.  Mike Fidanza & Robbie Guidicipietro lead the freshmen to a hard fought 2nd place finish as well. The 20 freshmen that raced were one the biggest frosh teams we've had at a season opener. Jonathan Goldman paces the JV as Ray Cardella steps up for the 5th man spot.
    Junior Elizabeth Oliver leads the Lady Vikings in her season debut.  Emily Cosgriff runs well in the Frosh 1.5 race and finished very strong.  All and all there were many nice "first" races for XC 2012.
