PAINT THE TOWN BLUE BLUE TEAM RUNS AWAY WITH B&G TITLE IN DUAL MEET SHOWDOWN VICTORIOUS BLUE TEAM |
4/4 - 5th Annual Blue & Gray Invitational -
St. Joseph Sea H.S.
On the strength of a a 39-3 onslaught in the throwing events, John Scanlon's
Blue team overtakes Tommy Schneider's
Gray in an epic dual meet showdown. The Blue team was outscored 79-55 on
the track but racked up big field event
points (68-22) for a 22 point margin. The handicaps weren't as significant
as past years as most athletes had stellar
performances. Phil Blanda is a three event winner - LJ-100-200 and sets 2
meet record in the LJ/100. The Blue
team's 4x800 breaks a meet record as the Gray team established a meet record in
the Swedish Relay
(400-300-200-100). All in all, a fun day of track & field at St. Joe's.

DRAFT ANALYSIS:
The widely popular Blue & Gray Invitational
pits St. Joe's
best track & field athletes against each other in a grueling, 3
hour long dual
meet. The Blue/Gray, one of the most hated rivalries in
professional sports,
has even been known to split households. The Mondello
brothers are the latest
family to be split over this pending battle. Rumors have
it that the losing
brother will be put up for adoption. As previously reported
via twitter, an
anonymous source has said that Tom Schneider, the Gray Coach,
was so unprepared
for the draft that he almost missed the time limit for picking
an athlete for
several picks. This, while Blue Coach John Scanlon, reportedly
had binders of
statistics and scouting reports as well as photos and player
videos.
BLUE:
Strengths: The throws. Blue can win all 3 throwing events and has a very
good
chance of sweeping 1 or 2 throwing events. These would produce huge
and most
importantly un-answered points.
GRAY
Strengths: Balance. The Gray team seems to have a more balanced attack.
If the
Gray team is to stand a chance, they will have to eat away at a big early
Blue
lead based on the throwing events.
PREDICTION: Vegas odds makers originally had listed the Blue team as 6
point
favorites. The updated line: Blue by 2 pts
